Our Programs
At Journey Martial Arts, we offer a recreational training experience that builds confidence, improves fitness, and teaches self-defense.
Journey Martial Arts is a member of the national organization of Martial Arts Against Bullying.
Lil Tigers (age 4-6)
The Lil Tigers program is designed for ages 4-6 years old (6 is a transition age). The focus of the program for this age group is on building basic physical skills while keeping the classes fun and exciting. Activities such as running and jumping, basic kicks and punches build the physical foundation for movement. Additionally, the classes focus on skills for improved learning ability such as listening, focusing, paying attention, recognizing patterns, and effective ways of improving motor skills and cognitive development.
The program includes a variety of activities to help children recognize the values of respect, discipline, and courtesy. At times, parents may be encouraged to participate in the class activities to facilitate a much more family oriented and friendly learning environment.

Kids Martial Arts
Kids programs are targeted for ages 6-11 years old. Since transitioning from Pre-school to Kids programs is a critical stage in skill development, students are usually evaluated for advancement. The students in the Kids programs persevere through challenging yet fun training to help them build confidence in their own ability and to learn leadership skills. Safety is considered one of the most important factors is physical training for this age as the students build their physical strength.
Self-awareness and self-esteem helps students to face life and academic challenges. In addition to their physical training, students have many opportunities to show their achievements and strive for improvement in the academic and social areas. Elite students who prove their active roles at home, school, and community activities, earn various recognition and awards in leadership.
Teens Martial Arts
Teens programs are suitable for students between ages of 12 and 15. At this age, most motor skills are developed but they can be enhanced to the student's full potential. Physical training helps the students to develop speed, power, and flexibility. Strong balance of physical and mental activities is required to achieve high standards of athleticism and to improve the competitive edge as a martial artist.
Students are encouraged to participate in various cross training activities along with the traditional class training. Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their sense of responsibility and leadership and achieve a unique status as leaders in the class. They are encouraged to become proactive in how classes are conducted, build and lead teams, and make friendships that can last.
Adults Martial Arts
Adult programs are targeted for student that are 16+ years of age. Muscular, joint, and bone structure development and capabilities vary for different adult age groups and between different genders. The adult programs account for such variations in the human body to create a safe and progressive training environment for all adults.
Some adults may start with an initial hesitation in believing in their abilities to join a martial arts program. There are many martial arts programs today that provide training in "hard core" fighting and in "extreme self-defense" techniques. Although such programs have merit, we understand that these are not meant for all adults. A "one fit all" program is too limiting and does not account for the latest scientific and learning in fitness and sports conditioning. Our programs account for such variations in training goals. Students can participate in a variety of classes that range from fitness training, self-pacing interval training, Taekwondo training, self-defense, and may other options.
Additionally, adults who also have children in this program, will have opportunities to turn this activity into a family oriented activity. We provide family classes and family events for "family fun time".
Adult Fitness Class
Whether you are interested in martial arts or interested in improving your self image and fitness level, there is a fitness program that would help you reach your goal. Like any other sport, there are foundation exercises that provide general strength and conditioning; and there are sports specific training to improve the sport specific performance and movements.
In the fitness programs, we focus on conditioning and and overall wellness for those who may not be interested in pure martial arts training. Various body weight, equipment based, and bag training methods are used that create improved cardiovascular conditioning as well as improved strength and muscle tone.
