Our Taekwondo tenets are not just words. Put them to action in daily lives.
While you are out celebrating the holidays with your family, set a goal to show an act of courtesy to others. Take a picture, write about it, or post something on our webpage or Facebook page. You are automatically entered in a contest to get an Ice Cream gift certificate from Journey Martial Arts.
Where does the term ‘martial’ as in martial arts come from? The term martial is related to the military because martial arts were originally developed for a warrior. It has evolved into a variety of uses – art form, competition, and so on. Think about how a soldier or warrior is expected to dress - clean uniforms, pressed, wrinkle-free.
Even if you do not want to impress the military lifestyle on your child, think about social impressions. Judgments are made based on first impressions, fair or not. Teaching the children that they should expect to wear clean, pressed clothing prepares them for the business world.
Also, because Taekwondo is a contact sport, it’s very important to keep the uniform clean.
Recommended cleaning techniques – wash uniform top, hang dry, press.
